Performance artist Tricia Hersey of The Nap Ministry centers rest as a profound form of collective care and power. In conversation with La Tanya S. Autry, Gund Curatorial Fellow, Hersey will discuss her influences, methods, and how her practice is evolving during our current pandemic era. Hersey''s installations Deprogramming, 2020 and A Portal for Rest, 2020 are featured in the exhibition Temporary Spaces of Joy and Freedom at moCa Cleveland.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tricia Hersey (b. 1974, Chicago, IL) lives and works in Atlanta, GA. She earned her BS in public health from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL and a MDiv from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. Recent exhibitions include: Flux Projects, Atlanta, Atlanta Contemporary, and The David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, Chicago (all 2019). She has taught and led workshops at Chicago Public Schools, Columbia College, Chicago, Free Street Theater, Chicago, Google, and the United States Peace Corps.

moCa, FRONT International, and ACRE Projects join together for At Home Studio Visits. This Friday evening series begins June 5 and invites Midwest artists to share their practices in public Zoom calls. The visits will take the format of a conversation between the artists, facilitators, and the public, inviting everyone to participate in a larger dialogue together.
