Well, it was bound to happen, Ami has tested positive for Covid-19, the good news is, he has mild symptoms and continues to work each day. We are thankful!!! We hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

In this issue of the Slingshotter we thought you would like to know about recent CARES Act news.

The Main Street Lending Program (MSLP) has been extended until the end of the year, December 31st. Join Ami on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an Aminar about this program. You can register here: MSLP Guidance.

The SBA 7(a) loan forgiveness program is still on target to end September 27th. Read more details about this offer below.

The PPP program is expected to end on August 8th.

Staying Ahead of the Money Curve:

As the CEO of Your Company - Who Holds You Accountable

Last week, I zoomed with a group of small business owners and entrepreneurs. We chatted through many of the current decisions they are struggling with.

Sadly, one common theme for several of them is that their PPP money is on the verge of running out; their businesses have not returned to pre-COVID levels. They have gut-wrenching decisions to make about the fate of team members they care about.

I told them the story of the first time I had to let somebody go. I went into the bathroom and vomited before I did it. And while my physical reactions have gotten better since then, the emotional component has not.

We have to remember that our companies are living breathing organisms, whose needs will change over time. Some of the changes will be in our control, and others will not. But just like we want to take care of individual people, we also need to take care of our companies and the families that they help feed.

My suggestion to the business owners facing these choices was to form a small accountability group, make their decisions, and then hold each other responsible for implementing them promptly. The group can also provide support for each other.

If you are not a peer group member, the need for them is more critical than ever in these challenging times. Look for one in your community, and consider joining.

CARES Act Guidance

As part of the CARES ACT -

The SBA will be making 6 months of principal and interest payments for you on any new SBA 7(a) loan that fully funds by September 27, 2020.

These payments are not deferments but actual payments made for the borrower by the SBA. Regular underwriting applies and your business must be in stable position to qualify.

Example of Savings:

• $4MM total project size

• Borrower injects 10%

• Lender finances 90%

• SBA 7(a) loan of $3.6MM

• Monthly payment of $23,195

• SBA pays your first 6 payments totaling $139,170 - wow, what a gift!

Still Struggling? SBA Allows Struggling Businesses

Another Shot at the EIDL Program

If your projections were rosier than what ended up happening, you could apply for more funds.

For many American small business owners, who applied for federal relief funding during the early days of the pandemic, it was a happy surprise to learn that their economic pictures didn''t dim as much as they thought, or that their pivot planning paid off. For many others, things got worse.

The U.S. Small Business Administration at the end of September quietly began allowing those who''ve already applied for economic injury disaster loans (EIDL) to apply for more funding. They can now get an increase of up to six months of working capital, as long as the total outlay doesn''t exceed the current cap of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

The additional funding could serve as a bridge for some companies in need, particularly as another stimulus package before the end of the year looks less and less likely.

To get the additional funds, your business needs to have used, or is close to using up, your paycheck protection and EIDL funds. You will also need to send an email that states your need to pdcrecons@sba.gov with the word, "INCREASE" in the subject line. To back up your request, include documentation like your most recent federal business tax return, along with a signed IRS Form 4506 T 2--a form requesting a transcript of your tax return. In lieu of tax documents, you may include updated financials--including gross revenues, cost of goods sold, operations costs, or other sources of compensation--and submit form 3502, which is an attestation regarding the aforementioned documents. Somehow we have all made it to the Fall of 2020 - it has been a long, tiring journey to this point, but we did it! You should be proud of your accomplishments, the past six months haven''t been easy.

Staying Ahead of the Money Curve:

The Status of PPP Forgiveness

When I used to travel a lot, and people would try to track me down, the standard joke was: where is waldo !! The same could apply to the PPP forgiveness process.

Here is how the process is supposed to work: you apply for forgiveness at the bank or lender that gave you the money. Your lender then approves your amount and submits your application for review to the SBA, who has 90 days to confirm or deny your request.

Some banks are accepting applications, but of those submitted so far to the SBA, I am not aware of any responses. At the moment, the PPP forgiveness applications at the SBA are sitting in a black box.

Does this sound like one big confusing mess? It is. And the likely reason that everything is stuck is that constituents along the way are waiting for Congress to act and clarify the rules. One big hope is that all PPP loans under $150,000 will automatically be forgiven, creating much less administrative work across the process.

What can you do to help move things along? There is only one thing: yell, scream, and shout at your elected representatives in Washington D.C. on both sides of the aisle that small business owners are the lifeline of the economy. We desperately need them to stop playing their silly games and do their jobs !!

Last week, I wrote about the importance of all of us rallying together and writing letters to our elected representatives to demand further action to support the small business and entrepreneurial community. RE: CARES Act provisions

Dear Senator Casey:

My name is Ami Kassar, and I am an entrepreneur and small business owner in the financing industry who resides in your district. While I support the CARES Act, I feel the restrictions to the relief programs in the bill are counterproductive to the intended uses for business owners.

Specifically, these are my primary concerns:

? Businesses that have been hard hit need more PPP, and EIDL support legislation needs to be enacted to make it happen.

? We need clear and final guidance on how PPP forgiveness will work

? The Main Street Lending Program is not serving small businesses, and for those that are qualified, the program is slow and bureaucratic, with no incentive for banks to process the loans. The SBA should be considered as a tool to help.

Many of the entrepreneurs I work with struggle to get the help they need because of these limitations.

(Take this paragraph to share your individual thoughts with him/her by telling your representative why the issue is important to you and how it affects you, your family member, and your community.)

I know there are talks about P4, and new guidance trickles in, but business owners need help now. I urge you to refine CARES Act legislation immediately so business owners like myself, who fuel our economy, get the help we need so desperately.

I am sure that most people will first look at the next round of PPP to see if there is a benefit in there for them - and there is if your gross receipts are down at least 25% one quarter in 2020 compared to the same quarter in 2020.
