Dear friends of the Nature Conservancy of Canada,
As governments and institutions worldwide respond to the growing threats posed by COVID-19, I want to assure you that the health and safety of our community — our staff, volunteers, supporters and families — is our number one priority. I am reaching out to let you know what the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is doing to adjust during these uncertain times.
Though medical authorities continue to classify the overall risk to Canadians as low, we believe that collectively we can help to slow the spread of COVID-19. NCC is committed to doing our part to contribute to the global response to this crisis.
Following the advice of public health authorities and effective immediately, NCC is postponing all planned public/donor events until at least April 30. This includes our popular Conservation Volunteers program. We are disappointed, but look forward to restarting our programs and meeting you in nature as soon as we are able.
We are not closed for business. Your gifts remain hard at work, protecting Canada’s most precious natural spaces and the species that live there. We know how important this is to you and we will not lose sight of this vital work, even in these trying times.
We are taking steps to protect our staff, many of whom are able to work remotely. We have cancelled travel until the end of April, and will use tele/video conferencing for meetings.
We also remain available to assist you. Should you wish to connect with us for any reason, including making a donation, you can do so at:
- 1-877-231-3552 (toll-free)
- nature@natureconservancy.ca
- www.natureconservancy.ca
Please watch our website for further updates. And despite current restrictions, I urge you to enjoy the early signs of spring, even if in your backyard. Nature always makes us feel better!
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to celebrating Canada’s species and landscapes with you soon.
Sincerely,
John Lounds
