We''re all set for our Mahler 3 Watch Party. Tomorrow at 7pm, Antoine Sigur?, our Principal Timpani, introduces Mahler''s Third Symphony, and explains why it''s so special to him and his Philharmonia colleagues. Then we launch into 90 minutes of glorious music, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen and featuring soprano Michelle DeYoung, the ladies of Philharmonia Voices and Tiffin Boys'' Choir. Hear from Antoine and four other Philharmonia players who took part in the original 2017 performance: Nuno Carapina, Second Violin; Karen Stephenson, No. 2 Cello; Tom Blomfield, Principal Oboe; and Kira Doherty, Second Horn. They will be online throughout, sharing memories and insights in the comments, and will stay around afterwards to answer your questions. You may not be able to meet up with family and friends for the performance, but you can invite them to watch with you wherever they are. Let us bring to the music to you - see you tomorrow. |
