Introducing three levels for children ages 6-18. See below for the appropriate class.

Handbuilding at Home: Level One
Ages 6 - 10
Tuesday & Thursday June 9 & 11
Tuesday & Thursday June 16 & 18
4:30 - 5:30 pm
$75 / $60 Members
The introductory level of Handbuilding at Home will be an opportunity for students to become familiar with the basic methods of construction, decoration, and vocabulary of clay. Build your skills in the handbuilding techniques of slab, pinch pot, and coil construction, and learn the basics of taking care of your clay and tools. This virtual class will consist of 4 classes over the course of 2 weeks. Students will complete 4 projects during the live virtual classes, but will also have access to additional video content to work on smaller practice projects between classes.
Registration includes: a basic ceramic tool kit, canvas to work on, a plastic container to store your clay, plastic to cover your projects for slow drying, corrugated plastic to paint and move your projects, 3 paint brushes, pre-cut clay, underglaze, and firing costs.
Students will need to provide a small water container and a fork.
Supplies will be available for curbside pick-up from the Plains Art Museum Center for Creativity at the following times: Wednesday, June 3, 4:00-7:00 pm, and Thursday, June 4, 4:00-7:00 pm.
You will receive a link to the Zoom meeting and access to the Google classroom site on Thursday, June 4. Project drop off times will also be announced at that time.
Registration closes Wednesday, June 3 at noon.

Ages 9 - 13
Monday & Wednesday June 8 & 10
Monday & Wednesday June 15 & 17

Level Two of Handbuilding at Home will be an opportunity for older students to both become familiar with the basic methods of construction, decoration, and vocabulary of clay and to build on previously learned skills. Improve your skills in the handbuilding techniques of slab, pinch pot, and coil construction, and learn the basics of taking care of your clay and tools. This virtual class will consist of 4 classes over the course of 2 weeks. Students will complete 4 projects during the live virtual classes, but will also have access to additional video content to work on smaller practice projects between classes.

The teen level of Handbuilding at Home will be an opportunity for students to experiment with basic methods of construction, decoration, and vocabulary of clay. Improve your skills in the handbuilding techniques of slab, pinch pot, and coil construction and explore surface texture, sgraffito, carving and sculpting. This virtual class will consist of 4 classes over the course of 2 weeks. Students will complete 4 projects during the live virtual classes, but will also have access to additional video content to work on smaller practice projects between classes.
Registration includes: an intermediate ceramic tool kit, a wire tool, a rolling pin, canvas to work on, a plastic container to store your clay, plastic to cover your projects for slow drying, corrugated plastic to paint and move your projects, 3 paint brushes, clay, underglaze, and firing costs.
