We are proud to welcome internationally renowned Spanish duo Coderch & Malavia. These outstanding figurative artists’ explore different human attitudes to life through their refined sculptural techniques working mainly in bronze. They focus on human emotion, figure, posture and beauty creating a variety of large scale and intricately detailed small scale sculptures.
The pair began working together in 2015 and have won several prestigious art prizes since making a name for themselves they have exhibited their works throughout Europe, Asia and the US and you can find their work in many art collections around the world.

Gallery artist Roger Watt explores the streets of London through his charcoal on paper works. Born in London but residing in Vancouver, Canada. Watt spends extended trips exploring the city he grew up in with fresh eyes, meticulously capturing urban life around him. Watt enjoys his trips to his motherland, experiencing the ever-changing city-scape, discovering buildings old and new and approaching the city with a different perspective so often overlooked by the city dweller.

David Wheeler’s paintings have consistently explored his relationship and fascination with the urban environment. While studying for his MA Wheeler was heavily influenced by contemporary (Hyper-realist) painters such as Clive Head and Steve Whitehead as well as original Photo-realist artists such as Richard Estes and it was at this point that his inherent connection to this style became the only relevant starting point for a new way of working. His need to increasingly tighten his painting technique continues and his need to channel his subject matter purely from observing the environment around him, taking on an objective approach rather than a subjective one progresses with every new painting today.

These difficult COVID-19 times seem never ending and as winter approaches days get colder and shorter and we can''t stop feeling gloomy. So we have chosen some uplifting works in hope to warm and cheer you up!
In November, we welcome artist Patrice Larue. We look at Sergey Piskunov, Rogerio Timoteo,
Paul Cadden, JKB Fletcher and Tom Martin''s interpretation of the human body, and share a fresh new Virtual Reality Exhibition!

Patrice Larue is a French artist born in Neuilly sur Seine in 1950. He studied at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris between 1970 and 1974. In 1985 he opened ''Bahamas'', his illustration creating numerous prestigious advertising campaigns in France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and the US. In 2000 Patrice Larue decided to dedicate himself entirely to painting.
The artist is best known for his close-up depictions of the female body that become abstract in the canvas. Larue separates the subject from its ordinary reality and endows it with a life of its own.

Artist Sergey Piskunov has gained worldwide recognition for his large scale Hyperrealistic still lifes and portraitures. By painting female portraits filled with bold colours, Piskunov brings a fresh and contemporary approach that draws his audience in for a closer look.

Portuguese artist Rogerio Timoteo creates sculptures that explore his fears, joy and hopes: all that makes him a human being. He intrinsically explores the human figure with simple and loose lines. Often giving his work an unfinished aura, the artist invites us to gaze through his narrative.

Paul Cadden, whose pencilled human form drawings are of such detail that they verge on the uncanny. Blurring the boundaries between photography and drawing his work creates lush, vibrant vistas out of the mundane through transitory settings. Cadden doesn’t so much reflect reality as simulate an entirely new one, building a vibrant universe from passing moments that in the real world would pass unnoticed.

Fletcher has turned his focus to the beauty and sensuality of the female figure, creating ambiguous works with perfectionist skill that appears to piece together the different parts of the female nudity. Fletcher uses reality, sensuality, contrast and forms to provoke thoughts of physicality and beauty.

Tom Martin is unique in his choice of subject matter and his approach to rendering it in paint. In “Safety Blanket” Martin presents us with a naked woman wrapped in an oversized £50 note giving her a sense of security in these uncertain and challenging times we are all living in. Essentially, the artist is trying to look for ways to create a situation whereby things are believably real, yet impossible.

December has arrived marking the end of the year. It has been a strange 12 months to say the least, so here we have some uplifting works by gallery artists Pedro Campos, Rogerio Timoteo, Sergey Piskunov, Adolfo Bigioni, Volker Kuhn, William Lazos, plus a fresh new Virtual Reality Exhibition to cheer us up and kiss 2020 goodbye.

John Salt was one of the pioneers of the Photorealist movement which took place in the late 1960s and the only non- American one at that. Although Salt did not dwell on either the irony of finding artistic freedom by copying a photograph or on the challenge this use of the photograph was (and still is), not only to art-world prejudices but also to our concept of what an artist is or ought to be. These issues were of course still on his mind and something that him and his peers thought about during the decision-making processes at the beginning of the movement.

The camera was the perfect tool for these artists, with no agenda (visual or theoretical) it offered freedom from historic modes of realism. It allowed the artists to capture a three-dimensional reality onto a two-dimensional plane which in turn enabled the artists to create exquisitely factual and faithful renderings of the compositions they sourced. These artists challenged our concept of both ‘an original’ and of originality.

Photorealism was primarily about capturing the ‘American Dream’ and although Salt was working with the same process as the other Photorealists and capturing an American way of life, his subject and approach to the genre was quite different to that of his peers. Focusing on run-down areas and beat up vehicles Salt was bringing attention to parts of the US the rest of the Photorealists overlooked.

Our latest virtual reality exhibition is now live! This exhibition features paintings by; Javier Banegas, Paul Beliveau, Adolfo Bigioni, Jacques Bodin, Pedro Campos, Francois Chartier, Robert Cottingham, Gabriela Ezcurra, John Kacere, Young-Sung Kim, Igor Levashov, Carlos Marijuan, Elena Molinari, Fernando O''Connor, Sergey Piskunoc and Cynthia Poole.

Although the idea of a summer holiday seems a million miles away to most of us, Summer is still here and enjoying it at home is a pleasure many of us tend to overlook. The lock-down has allowed us to stop looking further afield and to enjoy and appreciate our surroundings and this is only one of the new, positive qualities which has emerged from this unprecedented time in our lives!
