�	Looking back at our accomplishments in 2019, I'm reminded that it truly was an exciting and challenging period for the Pennsylvania Resources Council.�The past year included the launch of new programs, the culmination of a year long evaluation of our operations and the start of our 80th anniversary celebrations. PRC is proud that we remain closely tied to our heritage as a leader of environmental programs and initiatives. We continue to produce award winning programs which engage businesses, local governments and citizens to resolve difficult environmental challenges.� In the new year we invite you to become a member and help us start a second 80 years of preserving and protecting the commonwealth's resources. Join PRC in 2020 and Help Us Preserve Pennsylvania Resources

We recently updated to an online system to better serve our membership. This new approach to membership will help us engage more Pennsylvanians in our work while helping to build a stronger public voice for our mission.�

With the inevitable bugs finally fixed, we are ready to launch a 2020 Membership Campaign.�We will embark on a broad outreach strategy, asking everyone we interact with to become a member.�Our goals and approach will be revealed when we launch the �Be With PRC� campaign this spring. We need the support of all PRC friends, and we will seek your help to make our membership campaign a huge success. Stay tuned for more details!

�	Collection Events	�
�

�	PRC programs enable residents to rid their homes of materials which are not accepted by curbside collection services. Hard-to-Recycle events collect e-waste, tires, alkaline batteries, freon-containing appliances, polystyrene and other materials, while Household Chemical Collections provide a responsible disposal option for automotive fluids, household cleaners, pesticides and more.� On National Drug Take-Back Day in spring and fall, PRC hosts several local collection sites. In 2019, PRC introduced an extremely successful "pop up" Glass Recycling program in response to the removal of glass from many residential curbside recycling programs.� LEARN MORE �	�

�	Zero Waste	�
�

�	PRC�s Zero Waste Pennsylvania team provides technical expertise and hands-on assistance in the pursuit of zero waste. Staff members join with volunteers and members of PRC's "Green Team" to provide waste reduction assistance to events, businesses, institutions and residents across the commonwealth. Successful partnerships result in diverting tons of material to become valuable compost and recycled products. PRC also collaborates with public and private institutions to design and implement sustainable business waste management practices which prevent and reduce waste. �LEARN MORE �	�

�	PRC�s innovative education programs teach individuals of all ages the value of conserving natural resources through classroom presentations, interactive programs, field trips and other experiences offered throughout the state. School students take part in classroom programs that are unique, interactive, hands-on experiences that engage and energize the students. Field trips to local streams enable students to identify organisms and perform basic water chemistry testing. Adult community workshops attracted green-minded residents who seek to take action to reduce their impact on the environment and work to create a healthier planet. LEARN MORE �	�

�	After 20+ years located on the South Side, PRC's Western Office recently moved across town to a new headquarters building located on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Q Development -- a leader in revitalizing historic and architecturally significant properties -- brought new life to the two-story Katsafanas Coffee Co. located near Allegheny Commons Park with an award winning restoration project. �	Built in 1902 as a warp and weavers supply business, the structure became the Katsafanas Coffee Co. in 1925. It was purchased by Q Development in 2016, and the brick was cleaned, parapets restored, windows updated and 1925 limestone �Katsafanas Coffee Co.� facade sign on the side of the building restored.	�

?	As 2020 comes to a close and we reflect on a year overflowing with uncertainty, it's surprising and reassuring to remember just how many good things actually took place during the past 12 months. Despite countless logistical challenges, PRC experienced tremendous success protecting our watersheds, educating the public, and diverting material from landfills via collection events. Many programs experienced a significant?increase in?participation, which proves that even a global pandemic could not stop Pennsylvanians from finding value in recycling, composting and reducing their environmental footprint. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to members, sponsors and volunteers who supported PRC throughout the year, and we thank each and every person who took part in a PRC program in 2020. Since launching its Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program in?June to serve residents living in municipalities no longer accepting glass in curbside recycling collection, PRC has collected more than 58 tons of glass and expanded the program's format during its first 100 days on the road in western Pennsylvania. ?	Justin Stockdale - who?joined PRC as Western Regional Director in 2014 and became statewide Managing Director in 2019 - left the organization in early October when his family?relocated to Colorado. "Throughout the past seven years, Justin was?a dynamic leader with a deep commitment to furthering PRC's 80-year mission and inspiring its staff," said PRC Board President Winnie Branton.?"Justin's energy and devotion to our mission will be difficult to match, but he leaves PRC a better organization and on a strong footing for those to follow him." Sarah Alessio Shea will serve as Interim Managing Director as the PRC Board of Directors resumes its search for an Executive Director, a vacancy created by the death of Robert Jondreau in 2018.	?

?	PRC has closed a long chapter in our history as we depart from our 26 year tenure at the Barnes Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park. PRC took over the dilapidated estate in 1996 and spent our first few years converting the former residence to be not just office? space but a cutting edge Environmental Living Center which showcased the new ways homeowners could demonstrate their commitment to our environment with their roofs, driveways, floors and more. While we are deeply proud of this heritage we are eager to return our focus away from managing this expansive estate and? towards the diverse programs which directly aid residents, businesses and community''s protect our environment. Our new home in the Leedom House at Delaware County''s Rose Tree Park reinforces this goal and will allow us to work directly with DELCO to bring new and exciting programs and services to the community we have called home since our founding in 1939.	?
