Parks & Trails New York works every day to protect our public lands and keep them accessible, safe, and beautiful.

Right now, our advocacy team is doubling its efforts to save the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), the most important federal funding source for parks, trails, and other public outdoor places.

Passage of permanent reauthorization in March 2019 was a huge victory for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Now we know America�s most important conservation and recreation program will be around for the long haul�but that promise does not actually guarantee it will receive funding every year.

LWCF has been around for more than half a century, but in that time more than half its intended funding has been raided for other, non-conservation purposes -- $22 billion has been diverted from LWCF.

Our Board of Directors has stepped up to meet the challenge. They believe so passionately in the work of Parks & Trails New York that they've pledged to match all donations we receive through Dec. 31 up to $35,000.

Will you join us as we fight to restore critical funding for parks and trails in New York and across the country? We are fighting tirelessly to ensure full and dedicated funding for our most critical national conservation fund.

Donate for twice the impact

PTNY is rallying our state's grassroots groups and passionate conservationists to join us in advocating for the LWCF, which for 54 years has funded thousands of conservation projects. We're making calls, taking meetings, writing letters, and getting signatures to ensure that the voices of park and trail supporters are heard loud and clear in Congress.

We can't afford to take our parks and trails for granted. With your support for Parks & Trails New York's advocacy work, we will bring about a much-needed increase in funding for our public lands.

This year, the Cycle the Erie Canal tour offers:

8-Day and 4-Day Options: You can still enjoy a cycling adventure even if you can�t make the entire 8-day trip. 4-day options allow you to fit a world-class cycling experience into your busy schedule. These shorter options are great for families, too.

Return Shuttles: Shuttles from Albany to Buffalo will once again be provided at the beginning and the end of the tour. We will also be offering return shuttles from Syracuse to Buffalo and Albany to Syracuse for the convenience of our 4-day riders.

I don't know about you, but I love summer in New York State.

From the lakes to the beaches, the parks to the trails, we are gifted with a wealth of public lands in which to enjoy nature.

This didn't happen by chance. It's the result of decades of hard work and dedication to conservation and preservation, and making sure the outdoors is available to all. With our public green spaces more important-and more visited-than ever, we need that dedication now.

We need you.

Increased use, and sometimes overuse, of our green spaces, coupled with shrinking governmental budgets, means we need to be more vigilant and even quicker to respond.

Donate to Parks & Trails New York today and make sure there''s a strong voice for our green spaces across the state, in Albany, and in Washington.

As I write this, our hard work-and that of supporters like you-has paid off with the huge bipartisan passage of the Great American Outdoors Act in Congress. This Act will fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund for the first time in history!

Our supporters are the lifeblood of our organization, and particularly our advocacy efforts. Join with us to continue these historic wins for the outdoors.
