10. Preacher (2016-2019)

Based on the comic book series of the same name, this crazy and grotesque dark fantasy series follows the adventures of a conflicted preacher who wants to find God. The nature of the topic may be solemn, but the way the story unfolds is bonkers and fun, taking an unexpected turn when the preacher (Dominic Cooper) joins forces with his hell-raising girlfriend (Ruth Negga) and a wisecracking vampire from Ireland (Joseph Gilgun).

9. The Last Man on Earth (2015-2018)

Phil Miller (Will Forte) wakes up to find he is the sole survivor of a virus pandemic. (Fun fact: The first victim was no other than Tom Hanks.) This post-apocalyptic sitcom takes an edgy, comedic approach to a dark subject and is so hilarious that it''s almost hard not to watch it in one sitting.

8. Counterpart (2017-2019)

Ever imagined what your life would be like if somewhere along the way, you changed one tiny decision, sending yourself on a different path, and where that path would bring you? Indulge in this sci-fi / spy thriller / period drama to open the gateway to an alternate dimension teeming with doppelgängers, and watch the two worlds intersect amid a Cold War crisis, with every character having two versions of themselves, raising the question of whether we truly can change.

7. The Young Pope (2016)

With its long, sweeping shots of Vatican City, this miniseries is grand, bold and cinematic, all the while being one of the deepest character studies and strikingly emotional tales in modern TV. With one season under its belt and a follow-up called The New Pope (2019-present), the show''s star turn is undoubtedly Jude Law as the handsome, charismatic but disruptive Pope Pius XIII - the first American pope in history - who manages to shake up the conservative landscape of the Holy See.

6. Rectify (2013-2016)

Rectify is one of those criminally overlooked shows that deserved more attention during its 4-season run. Intensely personal and with some great acting, despite its grim premise - a man is released from prison after spending 19 years on death row for a crime he didn''t commit - this series is about putting one''s life together against all odds.

5. Carnivàle (2003-2005)

Follow a chain gang escapee and an obsessively religious priest on their journey across the Great Depression-era America and learn what secret powers both of them possess. At the time of its release, this cult show was perhaps too weird to be accepted by the majority of audiences and even critics - it simply was years ahead of its time.

What happens to a normal family when it gets involved in a money laundering scheme? Rich with amazing characters and set to the pace of Breaking Bad, with a Mexican drug cartel thrown into the p(l)ot, Ozark is a rollercoaster you won''t be able to get off until the deadly ride is over.

With a healthy mix of dark humor and drama, this TV series portrays the life of a wealthy family whose patriarch happens to be a ruthless media mogul. Lost in power struggles, most characters may seem unlikeable at first, but if you cling on, you are likely to discover that deep inside, every member of this dysfunctional family is actually quite human

This is not your typical British sitcom, but it will stick with you so much that you''ll want it on constant replay. This series is funny, sarcastic, witty and ironic. And what''s more, with its misanthropic main character and his cranky assistant, this show about a bookshop never tries too hard to be hilarious: it simply is.

Yeah, we know, it is kinda obvious. But it''s not without a reason that Breaking Bad - one of the most highly-praised shows in the history of television - landed on the top spot of our list of must-binge TV series during lockdown. Created by Vince Gilligan, this crime-drama-thriller about a chemistry teacher gone bad - shocks and dazzles, slays and stuns, digging its clutches deep into every viewer. The show''s prequel/spin-off is just as dark and multilayered, and yet, Better Call Saul doesn''t lean too much on its predecessor. With only a few characters from the original show, this series about a con-man-turned-lawyer is fresh and breathtaking, and certainly lives up to the legacy of its famous big brother.
