Demos

Saturday''s show is hosted by Extreme Cake Makers star Rosie Cake Diva and offers a wide range of demos being kicked off with an airbrushing masterclass by our Ambassador Berna Garcia. Other skills you can learn throughout the day include working with chocolate, perfecting sharp edges and a food illusion cake plus much more.

Sunday''s show sees Paul Bradford from Cakeflix as host and the demos include learning how to colour and pipe realistic buttercream flowers (keep an eye out for ProGels here), Molly Robbins creating a leopard cake using her Creature Creator Mould and award-winning cake artist Marc Suarez sharing his tips for texturing fondant plus much more.

Cake International Summer On Screen

Cake International On Screen is back by popular demand (and being sponsored by Renshaw Academy), featuring fantastic demo''s, a virtual competition, plus new and familiar faces including our very own Ambassadors Berna Garcia, Marc Suarez, and Molly Robbins, plus a whole host of other talented cake artists.

Demonstrations will include a range of skills and techniques including illusion cakes, sculpting, floral palette knife painting, wedding techniques and so much more - it will be impossible not to pick up helpful hints and new skills from all of the talented cake artists demonstrating.

Zoe Hopkinson

Zoe Hopkinson of Zoe''s Fancy Cakes (and let''s not forget Richard!) joined us on the Renshaw Baking Facebook page today for a fantastic live demonstration of how to make this adorable hippo cake.

Zoe used a blend of our Ready to Roll Icings and Renshaw Extra to cover her cake, and dusted in the details using Rainbow Dust Powder Colours.

Marc Suarez

Not only is Marc (Le Doux Collage) hosting a demonstration as part of the Cake International On Screen event, but he is running his own ''Learning Basics: Online Workshop'' on 18th June, aimed at beginners who can learn the foundations needed to develop their cake decoration skills.

Marc will be teaching how to fill and assemble cakes, how to ganache cakes and get sharp edges, how to cover a cake with fondant and get sharp edges and tips and tricks to become a cake master. For more details or to book this course contact Marc at: ledouxcollage@gmail.com

CAKING DURING COVID-19

Hi, cakers! We sincerely hope each and every one of you is keeping safe and well in these strange, uncertain times, and our thoughts go out to everyone in our community who has been affected by COVID-19.

As we communicated last week, we''re committed to keeping spirits high by sharing inspirational and informative content for our community. In keeping with this aim, we have two new blogs to share with you:

Most, if not all businesses are being forced to make critical changes in order to keep moving forward, including those of you with cake and sweet treat businesses.

Our competition category: Illusion Cakes

Put your cake design skills to the test and branch out into a world of speculation; mystify us with a food themed cake that next to the real thing would be indistinguishable, or craft something that defies the laws of gravity.

Now, we know that you are eager to begin designing your illusion cakes straight away, but we need your attention for just a little longer..

Here''s the criteria you need to meet to enter the competition:
- Your cake must be to scale and your entry must have a photo of your cake next to the actual object for comparison
- For example, if you create a banana cake, please photograph it next to an actual banana, like so..

- Finally, you will need to fill in a contest form, including up to 200 words about your entry. For more information on the competition, including answers to ''frequently asked questions'', click here.

A fashion statement or a tasty treat?

Our Ambassador Sabine Guilhem aka Melle Blush (@sabineguilhem) created this fashion inspired cake illusion back in June. It''s fair to say this wouldn''t look out of place on the catwalk!

Sabine has used a combination of our Renshaw Modelling Paste and Rainbow Dust ProGels in order to achieve an elegant, but sturdy shape and classic colour. Of course, a staple heel needs a touch of glamour! You too can make your designs twinkle by using a range of Rainbow Dust products.

The main course and dessert rolled into one?

We''ve all been there, you''ve had a long day at work and although you would love nothing more than a delicious home cooked meal, the reality is looking quite different. Well have no fear, as the wonderful Amy (@inspiredcakesbyamy) has combined Cake and Pizza to create the ultimate, time-saving 2-in-1 meal!

Jokes aside, do not be fooled by the crispy toppings and golden brown crust of this ''pizza'' as you will instead be met with the sweet taste of Renshaw Extra - not that we''re complaining about that.

This Anti-Gravity cake is an illusion we can''t stop falling for!

Our Ambassador Berna Garcia (@ilusionacakes_by_berna_garcia) created this gravity-defying illusion cake at the start of this year, and we are still trying to understand how that paint can is freely suspended like that!

To help you to start putting together the puzzle that is this illusion, we can disclose that Berna used Renshaw Extra to help create the different shapes needed for this bake. Rainbow Dust ProGels also go highly recommended to help achieve bold shades like the blue ''paint'' on this cake.

The uses of Royal Icing are endless. Mix in a couple of drops of cooled boiled water at a time to achieve a thinner consistency. But don''t worry, if you need to thicken the icing, add 1tsp of sieved icing sugar at a time to reverse any mistakes!

Top Tip: Make a variety of shades by using the dropper lid on the Liquid Colours! Create anything from pretty pastels to daring darker colours by noting down the number of drops needed for your chosen tones.

It''s nearly the first Friday of the month so you know what that means... it''s time for another Facebook Live!

Nicholas Lodge will be creating patriotic confection ideas for holidays and events like the 4th of July, VE Day, Royal celebrations and more.

Nicholas will be creating fabulous Red, White and Blue themed treats using Renshaw sugarpaste (or you might call it Fondant), and teaching you how to apply his techniques using Renshaw and Rainbow Dust products.

You''ll be shown how to make sprinkles, streamers, roses, pinwheels, and cute novelty ideas including a hot dog and firework!

Moving from Europe over to Canada, the very talented Chrissie Boon is also in the Halloween spirit this month with a workshop of her own through Icing Inspirations.

On 25th and 26th October, Chrissie will be teaching how to make a fab set of Halloween cookies which are both spooky and cute. She''ll be teaching flooding cookies, painting accents, wet on wet techniques, royal icing transfers, various piping techniques and more across the two nights.

MR BAKER''S CAKES

We were all stunned by news of Chadwick Boseman''s recent passing. The man who brought Black Panther to life on the silver screen was an inspiration to millions on and off screen, including Rob-Baker Gall, who decided to pay tribute to the actor in the best way he knows.

In this new video, Rob demonstrates making this stylised Black Panther figure, doing the signature Wakanda Forever pose in a faithful recreation of the costume from the epic 2018 film. A gorgeous tribute!

CAKING DURING COVID-19

Hi, cakers! We sincerely hope each and every one of you is keeping safe and well in these strange, uncertain times, and our thoughts go out to everyone in our community who has been affected by COVID-19.

The uses of Royal Icing are endless. Mix in a couple of drops of cooled boiled water at a time to achieve a thinner consistency. But don''t worry, if you need to thicken the icing, add 1tsp of sieved icing sugar at a time to reverse any mistakes!

Top Tip: Make a variety of shades by using the dropper lid on the Liquid Colours! Create anything from pretty pastels to daring darker colours by noting down the number of drops needed for your chosen tones.

Party Alpaca Cake by Nathasja Flapper

Cake Masters Magazine have teamed up with the Renshaw Academy once again to showcase Nathasja Flapper''s of Flappergasted Cakes amazing alpaca artistry!

Natashja uses Renshaw Extra White to create the body of the alpaca, and then goes on to combine Renshaw Modelling Paste and Rainbow Dust ProGels to create bold colours to make her alpaca look party ready.

To add some extra glamour, Nathasja uses Rainbow Dust Glitters and Lustres as well as our Rainbow Dust Cake Craft Pens in bright colours to create the illusion of ribbons and wrapping.

As we continue to navigate the challenges and uncertainty posed by COVID-19, our collective priority is to take necessary steps to protect ourselves and each other, and our thoughts are with you and the wonderful cake decorating community.

Rob has been busy over the past couple of weeks creating some fantastic content with skills for everyone. First off, he had his beautiful Sapphire Blue Flower Pot Cake tutorial which we have featured on our website.

An update to our product range

We hope you''re well and finding some time to get creative with baking and cake decorating, whether it''s for fun, relaxation, or a special celebration.

We''ve been busy planning some new tutorials for you, and we have some updates to our products that we''d like to share with you.

We have a broad range of fantastic sugarpastes for covering the simplest to the most extravagant of cakes, and for modelling cute celebration cake toppers to intricately detailed pieces. Let''s not forget our delicious tasting products like Marzipan (Tip: perfect with chocolate brownies), Vanilla and Chocolate flavour Frostings, and our Confectionery Icings in Caramel and Belgian Chocolate.

Ensuring a consistent supply of products is important to us, and has been made additionally challenging due to social distancing restrictions within our factories. So we have had to make some difficult decisions about our product range, with this in mind, we''ve taken the decision to discontinue our Belgian White and Belgian Milk Chocolate Modelling Pastes.

We''re also saying goodbye to Cassis and Cool Grey Ready to Roll Icing. We regularly refresh our range of Icing colours, bringing you the latest trends and listening to your suggestions, which is why we recently added Autumn Gold and Latte to our collection. If, like us, you love colour, then check out Rainbow Dust''s range of ProGel food colours for even more choice. They''re the perfect match for our Icing.

We have also been reviewing how our business supports the cake decorating community, and recognised that our Skin Tone Ready to Roll Icing was not inclusive of all in our community. This has now been renamed to Peach Blush Ready to Roll Icing. We''ll be sharing more about the actions we''re taking to ensure our online community, customers, staff and partners feel part of an inclusive group of creative talents in due course.

Put your cake design skills to the test and branch out into a world of speculation; mystify us with a food themed cake that next to the real thing would be indistinguishable, or craft something that defies the laws of gravity.

Now, we know that you are eager to begin designing your illusion cakes straight away, but we need your attention for just a little longer..

Here''s the criteria you need to meet to enter the competition:
- Your cake must be to scale and your entry must have a photo of your cake next to the actual object for comparison
- For example, if you create a banana cake, please photograph it next to an actual banana, like so..

- Finally, you will need to fill in a contest form, including up to 200 words about your entry. For more information on the competition, including answers to ''frequently asked questions'', click here.

A fashion statement or a tasty treat?

Our Ambassador Sabine Guilhem aka Melle Blush (@sabineguilhem) created this fashion inspired cake illusion back in June. It''s fair to say this wouldn''t look out of place on the catwalk!

We''ve all been there, you''ve had a long day at work and although you would love nothing more than a delicious home cooked meal, the reality is looking quite different. Well have no fear, as the wonderful Amy (@inspiredcakesbyamy) has combined Cake and Pizza to create the ultimate, time-saving 2-in-1 meal!

Jokes aside, do not be fooled by the crispy toppings and golden brown crust of this ''pizza'' as you will instead be met with the sweet taste of Renshaw Extra - not that we''re complaining about that.

This Anti-Gravity cake is an illusion we can''t stop falling for!

Our Ambassador Berna Garcia (@ilusionacakes_by_berna_garcia) created this gravity-defying illusion cake at the start of this year, and we are still trying to understand how that paint can is freely suspended like that!

To help you to start putting together the puzzle that is this illusion, we can disclose that Berna used Renshaw Extra to help create the different shapes needed for this bake. Rainbow Dust ProGels also go highly recommended to help achieve bold shades like the blue ''paint'' on this cake.

Nicholas Lodge will be creating patriotic confection ideas for holidays and events like the 4th of July, VE Day, Royal celebrations and more.

Whilst cake courses have sadly had to be postponed, that doesn''t mean the learning has to stop - there''s a great range of online resources available for you to develop your skills.

Rob Baker-Gall

Rob has been busy over the past couple of weeks creating some fantastic content with skills for everyone. First off, he had his beautiful Sapphire Blue Flower Pot Cake tutorial which we have featured on our website.

He also has combined his dual roles of baker and primary school teacher to produce some weekly baking lessons for you and your children on his YouTube channel. These led to him being featured in his local newspaper AND his local BBC News channel (and no, it wasn''t an April Fools prank ??). His next lesson will be tonight at 6pm.

And as if interviews with local news reporters weren''t enough, he also hosted a Live tutorial on our Facebook page today where he demonstrated using our Natural and Neon Multipacks to create an Easter Bunny and sweets cake.

Molly Robbins

Molly has been creating some adorable new Easter tutorials to add to her ever growing list of Creature Creator tutorials. Her fun trio includes Barry the Bunny, Larry the Lamb (no connection to THE Larry Lamb from Gavin & Stacey) and Chico the Chick.

Marc Suarez

Marc has ensured everyone can continue to learn new skills from the comfort of their kitchens with some amazing tutorials which he releases weekly. His two latest tutorials include a beautiful model of Bridget from Trolls and a 27 step tutorial to modelling the Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland using a range of our Modelling Pastes, Ready to Roll Icing and Rainbow Dust ProGels, Powder Colours and Edible Glue.

Marc has also been teaching using Facebook Lives and following the success of his first, hes scheduled a second. In this cute carved cake workshop you will learn how to create a small structure to hold the cakes, carve, ganache and cover 3D cakes, airbrush, create Royal Icing details and to model details with fondant. Last night Emma Jayne took part in the inaugural Cake International Learning Hub demonstration teaching her adorable ''Frog Prince'', made out of a range of our Modelling Pastes and Rainbow Dust Powder Colours. Dear Cakers,

As we continue to navigate the challenges and uncertainty posed by COVID-19, our collective priority is to take necessary steps to protect ourselves and each other, and our thoughts are with you and the wonderful cake decorating community.

Yet one thing remains unchanged, our love of cake decorating, and we know that for many it can be a relaxing pastime, a time for mindfulness, or an enjoyable creative outlet. That's why we'll continue to share some light-hearted inspiration and useful tips with you over the coming weeks.

Whether you want to save a recipe or tip for later use, or you're looking for some ideas to keep you and your family entertained or relaxed at home, we're sure to have the right recipe or tutorial in the mix on our website.

We know that a big slice of our community are fantastic business owners and that the road ahead will be bumpy, but we'll continue to highlight the inspiring and creative work you're doing across our social media channels.

We remain dedicated to following best practice in the production of our products and are taking extra measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers. We're staying well informed of the developing situation and are following the advice and recommendations of the Government, the World Health Organisation, and Public Health England.
