Stikki Peaches: Bootlegger III

The long anticipated sequel to the blockbuster exhibitions by Stikki Peaches, Bootleggers I & II, is finally here! This third exhibition turns its attention towards Stikki''s interest in bootleg toys, and will show a new body of works on paper. Each artwork is a recreation of said toys using his personal style, and are inspired by and created using found objects, and by recycling his children''s toys.

Due to strict regulations in Montreal, there will be no vernissage, and instead, the show will be open from October 29th-November 22nd during our hours of operation.

Stikki Peaches: Bootlegger III

La suite tant attendue des expositions ? succ?s de Stikki Peaches, Bootleggers I & II, est enfin l?! Ben Johnston is a creative director specializing in art direction and custom typography for advertising, murals, installations and events helping bring to life numerous types of projects. In addition to running the studio he is continuously creating new fine art pieces to be shared in exhibitions. Raised in South Africa and currently splitting his time between Canada and the US, Ben has also been involved in various conferences and mural festivals around the world. Internationally renowned artist, Craig Alan, is recognized as an innovator and is most well known for Populus. New Labrona Originals

We're happy to announce that we have recently got our hands on original works by Labrona, one of Montreal's most well known street artists of the last two decades. Labrona takes inspiration from skateboard culture and the old masters to convey raw human emotion in his artworks. Each piece looks to express the human experience through its multi-coloured faces. Labrona has exhibited his work throughout North America, Europe and many major cities across the world; where his iconic murals can also be found.

About Labrona

Labrona''s artistic influences are many but he cites the countless nights spent painting with his friends as the most important. His father who is an architect and an accomplished artist played a huge role in his development. As a child he loved comic books and skateboarding and was greatly influenced by the colorful graphics that adorn the bottom of the boards. During university he spent a lot of time in the library pouring through books but was the most impressed with the works of the German expressionist, the Mexican muralist, Byzantine and Flemish religious iconography traces of which are found in his work.

About GLEO

Gleo is an urban artist from Cali, Colombia, who has been doing urban intervention for 10 years. Currently, she is one of the most important speakers of Latin American urban art. It portrays, at first glance, some mystical characters, but what is behind, after a good observation are people who are accompanied by masks that represent their individualized virtues by a symbology that is very characteristic of the artist; flowers, colors, eyes, tattoos and geometric shapes. Elisabeth Heidinga: Artist at Work
We did a virtual visit with Heidinga to delve into her process and gain a more profound understanding of her fibre artworks. When asked "what is your relation between you and your pieces" Elisabeth replied:
"We''re all uniquely familiar with our own faults but I''ve always felt that the question shouldn''t be, ''"are you perfect", but rather, "can you grow?". This concept is mirrored in my work and process. My paintings (before being cut), are honestly, something I''m not actually fond of, particularly. However, through the process of breaking it down and pulling it back together, they end up being reborn as something elegant, light, and joyful. There''s something special about revealing the composition as I intersect each strip. Although I''m using fragments from the same collection of paintings, the end result is unique - and better over time.

?Nous connaissons tous de fa?on unique nos propres d?fauts, mais j''ai toujours pens? que la question ne devrait pas ?tre ??tes-vous parfait?, mais plut?t ?pouvez-vous vous am?liorer?? Ce concept se refl?te dans mon travail et mon processus. Mes peintures (avant d''?tre d?coup?es), sont honn?tement, quelque chose que je n''aime pas vraiment, en particulier. Cependant, en les d?composant et en les rassemblant, elles finissent par rena?tre comme quelque chose d''?l?gant, de l?ger et de joyeux. Il y a quelque chose de sp?cial ? r?v?ler la composition lorsque j''entrem?le chaque bande. Bien que j''utilise des fragments de la m?me collection de peintures, le r?sultat final est unique - et meilleur avec le temps.?

About Matthew Belval

At a young age, he learned to paint under the wing of a local artist. He explored various institutions throughout his artistic journey until he found his way in the bohemian movement. In the summer of 2009, Matthew left his hometown for the city, where he was particularly moved by the plight of the homeless. His neighbourhood awoke in him a deep sensitivity for humanity, regardless of social divisions. He began a touching series of paintings dedicated to the streets. Starting in 2014, Matthew regularly performed at Rockette bar, where he painted in front of a crowd along with a handful of other artists. In 2015, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Quai des brumes, the artist exhibited 30 portraits of men and women who had contributed to the success of this iconic Montreal bar.

S16 Gallery: Grand Opening July 9th!

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the our new gallery, S16, located at 377 Saint Paul Street West, in the Old Port of Montreal.

We invite you to join us in celebration of our new space on July 9th from 6 pm to 9 pm and encourage you to come discover the works of some of the local and international talent we will be highlighting that night. We are currently showcasing works from PichiAvo, Sandra Chevrier, Add Fuel, Miles Jaffe, Oliver Bernardi, Elisabeth Heidinga, and more!

Rest assured that we have taken all necessary precautions to make this a safe and healthy environment for all to enjoy. We will be respecting the social distancing recommendations, the maximum room capacity put in place by our government officials and health specialists. We will also be providing hand sanitizers and face masks as well.

Indeed this is a trying time, but also a very necessary time for art collectors and lovers to show their support to the Art Community and the Artist we represent.

Art is Life.

Expect bubbles, a red carpet, original works from local and international artists, including a 5'' x 14'' special traveling piece by PichiAvo, a self portrait by Sandra Chevrier and new works by Oliver Bernardi!

Daniel Joseph Bombardier (Born September 27 1976) is a Canadian pop / mural artist whose aerosol and stencil art works critique contemporary politics, capitalism, consumerism and the human condition under the artists pseudonym and alter ego DENIAL. His artistic career began in 1999 during his involvement in the graffiti and street art movement. DENIAL' studio is based in the border city of Windsor, Ontario, Canada next to Detroit, Michigan and spends much of the year traveling, painting murals, and exhibiting throughout North America and internationally. Having done solo shows in Detroit, New York, Chicago, Houston, Austin, New York, Toronto, Melbourne, Dubai, Miami and Vancouver.

Back in 2014, Paul Desbaillets, co-founder of Pub Burgundy Lion, presented Ricardo Cavolo's solo exhibition "Gol, Carajo!" at Station 16 Gallery, blending the artist's passions for art and soccer. Cavolo's soccer-themed artworks took over the gallery while a limited-edition clothing line was launched at the Burgundy Lion. We are very pleased to announce today its return to Station 16 Editions'' online store. A portion of the proceeds will go to support GOAL Initiatives, one of the artist's favorite charities.

Station 16 Gallery is a contemporary urban art gallery that features an international roster of artists who are influenced primarily by street art and graffiti. The gallery is constantly looking for ways to reinvent itself and to breathe life into the Montreal art scene, exhibiting works of art that challenge the traditional white cube gallery space.

Founded in 2008, Station 16 began as a creative silkscreen printshop working primarily in textile printing and soon began developing fine art prints, working with local Montreal artists. In 2013, Station 16 acquired its current gallery space and has been showcasing innovative artwork ever since.
Located on St-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal, Station 16 Gallery is the official gallery of the MURAL festival and is at the centre of a thriving street art scene. Station 16 Gallery welcomes visitors and our team loves to share their knowledge of the art world.

Living and working in Lisbon, Portugal, Add Fuel, otherwise known as Diogo Machado, is constantly inspired by his surroundings. Fascinated with the aesthetic possibilities of symmetry and patterns, Add Fuel has reinvented the idea of traditional Portuguese tile designs. With a degree in graphic design from Lisbon''s IADE, Add Fuel''s creations possess a balance and harmony from symmetrical repetitions. "I come from a creative background. My folks both worked in the textile industry: my dad a tailor, my mom a fashion designer. Being surrounded by endless amounts of sketches, patterns, story boards, colour palettes, I took the opportunity to take those scraps of paper and rejected sketches to turn them into something else by painting or colouring over them. My practice today stems from those memories and the nostalgic feeling of the 80's and 90's pop culture."

The Original Cap Encased In Glass

Oliver''s first limited series on show at S16 Gallery, CAPS (2020), was inspired by his need to capture imprints of the temporary; create evidence of contract - proof of presence. Bernardi reveals that "the use of light and photosensitive surfaces is the closest I have yet to preserving or ''immortalizing'' the fleeting".

The ''CAPS'' (Channeling Acute Pressure Series) is a meditation on process - a fossil of a manifested creative intention. Oliver explains his inspiration behind CAPS "this minuscule object of massive impact, the channel with which messages of freedom, social change and revolution are made public" through street art.

"By documenting these ''CAPSules'' of process and giving them center stage, I hope that their magnitude, impact, beauty can be seen, acknowledged, and mediated on."

Meet Oliver Bernardi

Oliver Bernardi (b. 1991, Montr?al, Quebec) seeks to create tangible artworks of the otherwise fleeting. With years in the darkroom experimenting and refining his image making techniques and processes - he''s created a developmental approach of striking and profound imagery.

Bernardi trained and studied through Dawson College''s Commercial Photography and Concordia''s Fine Art Photography programs before setting off professionally in Canada and abroad.

Having collaborated with world-renowned artists, photographers, and Art Galleries, Oliver''s precise perspective and contemplative nature have earned him international recognition.

We are happy to announce the representation of Juro Kralik, an artist from Slovakia, whose works are made up of coins. These coins are different on each side, creating two different artworks depending on which side you look at them from.

About Juro Kralik
Juro Kralik spent many hours as a young boy in his father''s sculpting studio in former Czechoslovakia. He worked for many years as a freelance photographer, but always continued to create art in all types of media: painting, drawing, graphics and sculpting.
When Slovakia became a Eurozone and its currency ceased to exist, Juro Kralik decided to buy the remaining coins, and save their lives as each coin has its own history. He gave them a chance to re-invent themselves as elements of share and colour in his widely received works.

About Labrona

Labrona''s artistic influences are many but he cites the countless nights spent painting with his friends as the most important. His father who is an architect and an accomplished artist played a huge role in his development. As a child he loved comic books and skateboarding and was greatly influenced by the colorful graphics that adorn the bottom of the boards. During university he spent a lot of time in the library pouring through books but was the most impressed with the works of the German expressionist, the Mexican muralist, Byzantine and Flemish religious iconography traces of which are found in his work.
