Hi folks,

At SureSwift we're always focused on growth, and I'm sure that's a main focus for many of you who are past the "launch" stage of your business, too. But the end of the year always marks an extra push for us here as we try to hit annual goals on 30+ properties. So with growth on the brain, that's what this month's Founder Squad issue is all about. We're giving away our Cyber Monday playbook, hosting an "AMA" session with our growth team on Twitter, and sharing stories from SureSwift Alum Founders we think really excelled in this area as bootstrappers.

CEO, Co-Founder
?? Cyber Monday Strategy
We're planning Cyber Monday promos across our portfolio right now. This deal day isn't only for big retailers like Amazon. The idea to do it at our scale actually came from one of our bootstrapped Founders (and our Head of Growth), Marvin Russell, who's best Cyber Monday year at MySiteAuditor brought in 70+ new paying customers over a 24-48 hour period. (At the time for him that was 10% MRR growth overnight - pretty impressive). We've made a copy of our own Cyber Monday playbook for you, if you'd like to take a peek.

(I should also note: Cyber Monday's not a fit for every SaaS, and we don't do it for every single one of our own properties indiscriminately. Definitely take some time to think about whether it's a fit for you, and the specific segment(s) of your customers with the most potential for converting on an offer.)

??? ??????Chat up our Growth Team on Twitter this Friday, Nov. 6 at 12 CST
Our growth team is made up of writers, content marketers, analytics and SEO experts, and researchers. They A/B test, they optimize, and they launch new initiatives like webinars and affiliate marketing programs. On Friday, Nov. 6 from 12-1 CST, they'll be taking over our Twitter account to answer questions, so if you're curious how we approach something growth related, this is your chance to ask.

?? Growth advice from the author of "Zero to Sold"
Arvid Kahl and Danielle Simpson are two founders we're super proud to call SureSwift Alum. We bought their Ed-Tech SaaS, FeedbackPanda back in 2019, and since their exit, Arvid published a blog and a book all about what he learned bootstrapping the business.

When I interviewed Dani and Arvid, I loved hearing how they broke down growth over a couple of years into 3 distinct stages, "Survival, Stability, and Growth" with super-specific focuses and goals. Whether you break things down this way, or differently, I know from experience running our own business that breaking a big vision into phases with achievable goals is way more likely to lead to success.

Arvid says, "Overall, I had always wanted to build a business that would make over $50,000 USD in a month. So that became the overarching goal, with step goals for each stage."
?? What stage of growth are you in?
I love being able to reach out to so many Founders each month - but I'd also love to know more about who I'm talking to (i.e. you!). I'm curious which of Arvid's stages of growth you'd put your business in? (And don't worry, we don't use this to sell you anything and we never share data. It just helps us create better content for you each month. If you don't want to share, no worries, just skip the click).

Growth Poll: Which stage would you put yourself in?
  • Survival/Under $5k MRR
I'm just working on getting the business to pay for itself
  • Stability/$5k-$20k MRR
Working on making my biz my full-time gig
  • Growth/$20k MRR+
This is my full-time gig, and I'm spending most of my time on growth
