• London Bridge Hotel OPEN 3  Explore the theme of 'urban nature' at the third  OPEN exhibition, opening to the public January 30th. Celebrating local makers, OPEN has exhibited over 30 Southwark based artists and 60 artworks to date.   Find out more.
   
• A record-breaking London Bridge Community Christmas An incredible 2,524 gifts were collected for local charities by the London Bridge business community, with all deliveries made using cargo bike.  BBC Radio London and London Live came down to see the spectacle in action.  Read more.

  PDP London architects’ ‘Low Line Commons’ has won the RIBA international design competition to deliver a green strategy along the path of London’s historic railway arches. Find out more

As our minds turn to the BID ballot early next year, we’ve been looking back at what we value most about our London Bridge community.  

At the start of 2020, Team London Bridge collaborated with award-winning poet and spoken word artist LionHeart to capture what our area means to us and the spirit of the work we do to support our business community. While it may be some time until we can return to enjoying the area as before, we hope this film serves as a reminder of what makes ''Our London Bridge'' special.

With thanks to all of the partners and individuals who have been instrumental in helping Team London Bridge make our area a great place to work, live and visit since 2006.

In this strange time in limbo it’s comforting to realise that some things remain the same.

Team London Bridge is continuing to provide a range of services to inform, assist and advocate on behalf of businesses – see our crisis hub on teamlondonbridge.co.uk. Our own key workers, the BID funded police officers, are working tirelessly, looking after premises and hospital workers, and helping businesses deliver urgent donations to NHS staff. Without the BID levy paid by our business community these essential services would not be possible. BID funding has also allowed our Business Manager, Henry Johnstone, to increase his voluntary hours as a Metropolitan Police Special Constable to patrol the area, emphasising our BID’s commitment to both security and the voluntary sector.

Southwark Council has created a £2 million emergency Business Hardship Fund for smaller businesses significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They will also provide Community Grants to registered charities, as well as some local community and volunteer groups within Southwark.

Responsible Business Plan launch and AGM 2020

Join us for an evening in London''s Living Room (City Hall) on March 19th, where we''ll launch a Responsible Business Plan for the area and discuss how we can tackle pressing environmental and social issues as a community. The event is open to anyone whose work touches on environmental sustainability, volunteering, workplaces and wellbeing.

• London Bridge Closure Details From 16 March to end October 2020, The City of London will be carrying out essential maintenance works to London Bridge (the bridge itself). London Bridge will be closed to general traffic between 16 March until the end of October 2020. Pavements in both directions on the bridge will be significantly reduced until 7 August 2020. Find out more

With confirmation from the government yesterday (view guidance here) that many of our businesses and venues will be able to reopen from 4 July 2020, Team London Bridge and our partners are able to progress further through our Crisis Response Plan. As we approach the ‘Recovery’ stage, we''ll be working to collate information and develop our services to best amplify, inform and coordinate the work of our business community. The month of July is usually peak festival and holiday season, and while we are still far removed from that right now, London Bridge is starting to give us a reminder of its usual vibrant self. Shops, restaurants and pubs have been re-opening and employees are beginning to venture back to the workplace.  Team London Bridge has been working alongside our business community and partners to support a safe return to the area as we navigate the ‘Recovery’ phase of our Crisis Response Plan.

This month''s update includes important travel safety information from last week''s Back to Business Working Group, the reveal of an exciting new public realm project, plus the latest on re-openings across the London Bridge retail and leisure sector.

London Bridge: A Responsible Business District
Responsible Business Plan launch and AGM 2020

Join us for an evening in London''s Living Room (City Hall) on March 19th at 6PM, where we''ll launch a Responsible Business Plan for the area and discuss how we can tackle pressing environmental and social issues as a community. The event is open to all members of the BID community, especially those whose work touches on environmental sustainability, volunteering, workplaces and wellbeing.

Learn how to use powerful behavioural communication techniques to engage your colleagues in volunteering (ESV)   Join our half-day workshop on March 17th at Team London Bridge offices, offering practical, useable communication tools and insights to maximize engagement in your ESV program .
