One of the?things we hated?when having food delivered to our home was all of the waste it created.?All those little tubs and wrappings?made of single-use plastic going in the bin ruined?the whole experience for us, and left us with horrible pangs of?guilt.

We knew there must be a better way, and we''ve been working hard to create a service which keeps waste to a?minimum (while never shifting the main focus away?from from delivering delicious food).

All our Food is delivered in either:

Aluminium Trays -??which are?infinitely recyclable & can simply?be rinsed?and placed in your yellow bin after use.

or

Compostable packaging -??Everything else (the vacuum pack bags, the small clip shut containers and the transparent pouches) can all be composted and returned to the soil - rather than ending up in landfill, or worse, in the ocean.

Take a step with us towards zero waste

Local councils don''t offer composting services, so we''ve contracted a private company to compost for The Plant Kitchen & all of our customers.

One of the Plant Kitchen team will collect your packaging and make sure it''s?all composted on your behalf.

If we all make a little effort to use less plastic we can?collectively make a?big difference. And who knows,?maybe more companies will do the same.?

Now, Let''s get back to the food. This week we have a return to our menu?of a few of our most popular dishes.

Red Wine & Lentil Cottage Pie

A comforting classic. This has been a favourite right from the beginning.

Rich lentil ragu with red wine and herbs, topped with lashings of creamy mashed potato.?

This dish is suitable for 3 to 4 people with accompaniments. Just remove the compostable bag and place in the oven. That''s it.?

Roast Cauliflower & Turmeric Daal

This is a much more recent addition to the menu, but no sooner are they on the website than?they''ve all gone!?And with good reason.

We slow roast whole cauliflower until tender, then baste with a delicious combination of maple syrup, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and garam masala, before briefly returning to the oven.

Finally. we place our Cauli on a?bed of creamy turmeric daal. Just heat through and serve.

Butter Jackfruit

Our take on an Indian Takeaway classic. No butter, or chicken, but plenty of flavour!

This one has been consitantlly the number 2 best-seller on the vegan marketplace (just after our Classic Lasagna.)

We cook jackfruit in a luscious curry sauce of tomato, coconut cream and spices.?

Just pop out of the container, heat and serve with rice.

Delivery to?Central Sydney on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Red Wine Poached Beetroot Wellington with Walnut & Brandy Pate, Mushroom Duxelles and Tarragon Crepes

The perfect?centrepiece?for your Christmas buffet or table. First, we slowly poach whole beetroot in red wine and spices. We then wrap the beetroot in thin tarragon crepes between layers of sauteed mushroom and our Brandy & Walnut Pate.

?Finally, we wrap it all in layers of puff pastry and decorate with a latticework pattern. Just pop in the oven and serve with?our gravy and salad or roast vegetables for the easiest Christmas ever!

Porcini & Truffle Risotto Artichokes with Pistachio Crumb

So much fun! The perfect indulgent individual serve for Christmas Day!

First, we poach globe artichokes and remove the centre leaves.

Then we make a delicious risotto of Porcinis, Mushroom and Truffle to stuff the artichokes. Finally we top with a pistachio crumb.?

Note: If you or one of your guests are avoiding gluten, we use all gluten-free ingredients to make these Individual dishes (although please remember that we work in a kitchen that handles flour, so might not be suitable for those with severe reactions).

Whole Roasted Butternut with Cranberry, Pecan & Wild Rice Stuffing

Perfect Christmas flavours - lightly toasted pecans, cranberries, sage, a little mandarin zest and juice all in a perfectly slow roasted butternut pumpkin.

Light enough to pair with a fresh salad for a hot Australian Christmas, or serve with our scrumptous gravy for a more

traditional feel.?This one is also made from gluten-free ingredients.

Brandy, Walnut & Mushroom Pate

Amazingly rich and flavoursome, our Brandy, Walnut & Mushroom P?t??is the perfect luxe starter for your Christmas meal.

Just place?onto a board or platter with a selection of bread and crackers (and wait for someone to say "I can''t believe?that''s plant-based!").

Chocolate & Raspberry Yule Log

We can''t think of anything that will look more Christmasy on your table than our Chocolate and Raspberry Yule Log.

The Yule log is a French Christmas tradition that''s now popular in many parts of?the World. It symbolises the log that was put on to the fire on Christmas eve to bring good luck to the family in the year to come.

While we can''t make any promises about 2021, we can promise that our yule log is delicious and will be enjoyed by all your?family and friends!

Double Layered Coconut & Passionfruit Pavlova

There is possibly no finer?summer dessert than the great Aussie Pavlova. Somehow it always seems to steal the show!

When faced with hosting Christmas, we know many people find them hard to make (or just don''t want the fuss). And you''ve?probably not even considered how to make a plant-based version.

But don''t worry, after lots of experimenting and tasting sessions, we reckon we''ve got it just right.

It has a crispy and crunchy crust on the outside?with a soft and marshmallowy?inside. Yum!
It comes with our special plant-based cream and passionfruit to add before serving. You have the option of adding more fruit (why not?) or simply serve as is.

One of our most popular dishes, this is a?classic lasagne with a twist.

We make a rich and flavoursome bolognese sauce from minced sunflower seeds, cooked for hours with tomatoes, herbs and red wine.

Mushroom, Roast Onion, Red Wine & Spinach Pot Pie

Our Mushroom, Roast Onion & Red Wine Pie is cosy, comforting & delicious. The perfect thing to get you through these cold wintry evenings!

We start by roasting red onions, then slow cook them with big pieces of field mushrooms in a rich red wine and rosemary gravy. Finally, we stir through some baby spinach leaves and then top with flaky, latticed puff pastry and carraway seeds.
