Feature Sessions

Future Housing Solutions Forum
Wednesday 26 February at 9:30am – 11.30am in the Purple Room
This forum will hear from people with disabilities and families who have developed successful SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) properties including units and houses.   We will discuss the issues, challenges and benefits.
 
However, SDA is not the solution for everyone, so presenters and discussion will also focus on what will happen for the 94% of NDIS participants who miss our on SDA because they are not eligible.   

Registration
Cost  $65 which includes brunch.   Sponsorship is available for people with disabilities and family members on the registration form (download below) and by contacting Chris Scott M: 0418 567 518 or E: christine@valid.org.au.

Better ways to get a Good Life for people with Behaviors of Concern: a forum for families
Tuesday 25 February at 11am – 4pm in the Purple Room 

This forum will be facilitated by families who have taken big risks to achieve great results, along with professionals who have unique insights into how a good life is possible for people with behaviours of concern.
 
Don’t miss this important opportunity to learn about some of the ground-breaking strategies for communication, making a real home, and positive behaviour support developed by the true experts – people with a disability and their families.

Registration
Cost: $65   includes morning tea, afternoon tea and all day tea/coffee.

Employment Forums
Monday 24 February 1.30pm
NDIS – Real Employment made possible
CDERP (Centre Disability Employment Research & Practice) will explain the NDIS price items that cover employment and what you should ‘get for your money’, including the SLES (School Leavers Employment Scheme) and for ‘discovering employment’ items

Tuesday 25 February at 3pm 
Inclusion Australia and VALID are doing projects to make workplaces more inclusive and help people understand the supports that are available to them to work. Come and join the conversation in the Pink room .You can download the flyer here.

Red Faces
There are 20 places in the Red Faces competition that is held on the Monday evening of the conference; 24 February 2020. All performers must be signed up by Friday 10 February to be eligible to audition on the night.

Entries close on 17th February, so register now.  Red Faces Registration Form  

Art Competition
The Having a Say Art Competition is back in 2020, with a change of name to the Barbara Donovan Art Competition. This is in memory of an amazing advocate for people with disabilities and a long-term volunteer at HaS conference. Competition entries close on Friday 7 February

Our Choice Expo
Registrations are still open for the Our Choice Expo, which runs on the Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 February at the conference. Last year we had nearly 100 exhibitors from many organisations.

There is a limited number of places still available.

Exhibitor registrations for Our Choice Expo close on Wednesday 19 February. If you require more information on the expo please contact Chris christine@valid.org.au

Volunteering at Having a Say is an amazing experience!

Having a Say relies on volunteers to keep the cost of registration affordable for delegates.
Volunteers can select the type of activity that they’d like to volunteer in and orientation is provided.
