The Freedom Garden Grows Hope in Clients

Healing through nature at the Center for Women and Children
March brings an influx of warm spring weather! For clients at Volunteers of America, Utah''s Center for Women and Children, this means the Freedom Garden is back!
The Center for Women and Children is a social model detoxification facility that allows women to detox from drugs and alcohol in a safe environment with their children ages 10 and younger. During their time at the Center for Women and Children, clients have access to a variety of services and programs to help them on their recovery journey. One of these programs is the Freedom Garden. Here, women and their children are able to work in the garden and greenhouse across the street from the center to grow different plants and flowers for bouquets and fruits and vegetables for meals at the center. The Freedom Garden is typically in use for clients during the warmer months of the year. However, the greenhouse is used year round.
Tending to plants and being able to spend time in the serenity of nature is often a therapeutic experience for clients that allows them to focus on their recovery during their time at the Center for Women and Children. Without the support of generous individuals like you, vital programs like the Freedom Garden could not operate. If you would like to support the Freedom Garden and all the other important programs at Volunteers of America, Utah, click the button below!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Siamsa – Hibernian Society of Utah
We’re excited to be a part of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Siamsa hosted by the Hibernian Society of Utah on Saturday, March 14th starting at 10am at 200 South & 500 East proceeding west until State Street. Kathy Bray, Volunteers of America, Utah President & CEO, will be serving as the Grand Marshall for the parade giving our organization an amazing opportunity to highlight our services for vulnerable populations in the community. We’ll also have a booth to engage with guests following the parade at the Gallivan Center where you can enjoy Irish music, dance, and cuisine.
Part of the proceeds from the festivities will benefit our Youth Resource Center as the Hibernian Society has adopted the theme of “New Beginnings” this year. They’ve recognized that these youth ages 15 to 22 at-risk or experiencing homeless are overcoming major barriers to success and health with the help of our trained staff. These contributions will make an incredible impact in their lives when they need help the most.
If you’re part of a group that wants to make a lasting impact in your community, please consider inviting Volunteers of America, Utah to be a beneficiary of your charitable efforts. Then let us know about it by clicking the button below or sending an email to Alexis.Brotherton@voaut.org.

Sotheby''s Cares spreads the love to Volunteers of America, Utah
Sotheby’s Cares isn’t just a name, it’s a mentality. Thomas Wright, the president of Summit Sotheby’s International Realty, brought together thirty non-profits from across Utah to celebrate 100% charity giving from the company’s sales associates.
At the close of every escrow, sales associates are given the opportunity to donate a portion of their earnings to local 501(c)3 non-profits. From veteran services to sports access, all topics and demographics were represented in where employees invested their funds.
It was an honor for Volunteers of America, Utah to be able to share our mission not only with Summit Sotheby’s employees but also our non-profit colleagues across the state. Sotheby''s Cares highlights how Utah non-profits are providing a way for people to work together for the common good, transforming shared beliefs into action.
If you would like Volunteers of America, Utah to speak with your company, contact Savannah Young, Marketing & Communications Director, via the link below. We’d be happy to help your company get more involved and make an impact in vulnerable people''s lives!
