EXPERIENCES IN THE WORKPLACE - ANONYMOUS SUBMISSIONS

During the HLS, we aim to discuss the experiences of Hispanics in the workplace. For part of the program, we will be inviting corporate Diversity and Inclusion executives to respond to questions for how to handle situations at work, how to navigate negative experiences, or best practices for professional advancement. In this form, we invite you to anonymously share your questions or recount your experiences to these executives for their reactions or advice for how to best navigate complicated or uncomfortable scenarios.

Financial Empowerment Charlas - Hispanic Heritage Foundation

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and Nationwide have partnered to develop the Financial Empowerment Charlas (chats), designed to help you achieve financial wellness. The Charlas are focused on three main areas: Money Management, Debt Management, and Wealth Mindset. Through the 3-part series of videos or podcasts below, we will bring knowledge and insights to you from Tanya Menendez, Co-founder and CEO, Snowball Wealth; and Natalie Torres-Haddad, Founder, Financially Savvy Latina, in addition to other dynamic Hispanic leaders and financial experts. Latinos Making a Different - Friends of the Museum of the American Latino

Latinos Making a Difference (LMD) is the latest initiative of the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino to tell the story of how Latinos have contributed greatly to our nation throughout its history?both then and now?from the founding of our nation to making a difference during the COVID-19 crisis. If you have an LMD story to share, please send a short description of the story along with a photo and links of any media coverage by clicking here. 

Share your story with HISPA

In partnership with Hispanic Star, HISPA is seeking Latino professionals to submit their stories for ?20,000 Stories for our Youth?, a website that collects Latino role models? stories as writing, audio recording, and video and shares them virtually with Latino youth. Everyone has a story to share, and you never know what will resonate with our students. Our goal is to collect 1,000 stories by the end of June and 20,000 stories by the end of 2020. Knowing the leadership and great commitment of the Hispanic Stars, we invite you to join us! Click here to share your story.

Latino Conservation Week 

From July 16 to July 28, join this national celebration of activities that shine a spotlight on the Latino community?s strong conservation values and provide access for Latinos (and others) to get outdoors to enjoy and learn about how to protect our natural resources. This initiative intends to engage the community, have them advocate for sustainability and preservation of biodiversity, and learn from many experts in the field about the great outdoors. Whether you''re already a fan or you''ve just now heard about it, the In Her Footsteps podcast by the USHCC is a great way to feel empowered and inspired by incredible Latina leaders.  The podcast hosts these dynamic Latina business owners who are helping drive the American economy and creating change in their communities. It provides listeners with information and resources to better run their businesses, while also working to highlight the contributions of the Hispanic community and Latina businesswomen. A Starting Point: How to be informed before an election (and in general)

Check out the new video-based civic engagement platform in which elected officials effectively communicate their points of view and proposals for issues such as education, police reform, covid-19, among others. This web-based resource allows students to search for stories by various topics, including country of heritage, colleges attended, degrees obtained and obstacles overcome. With the support of ETS?s UNIDOS Business Resource Group, Alberto Acereda, Celeste Eppinger, Yvonne Kuykendall, Sylvia Ledesma and Nate Santana have added their stories to the platform.

Latino Conservation Week 

From July 16 to July 28, join this national celebration of activities that shine a spotlight on the Latino community?s strong conservation values and provide access for Latinos (and others) to get outdoors to enjoy and learn about how to protect our natural resources. This initiative intends to engage the community, have them advocate for sustainability and preservation of biodiversity, and learn from many experts in the field about the great outdoors. National Museum of The American Latino Act (HR 2420)

On July 27th, the US House of Representatives is set to vote on legislation to create a National Museum of the American Latino! Therefore, we encourage you to call your local legislator and representatives in Congress and urge them to vote yes to make this a reality! This is a bipartisan initiative with 295 co-sponsors, so make a call today to make sure the bill passes in the House so it can move on to the Senate! Read more here.

2020 SLEI National Survey of US Businesses
