Black Friday beats Cyber Monday for the first time ever - but �Cyber Monday remains the reigning king when it comes to actual spending.�

Forbes has given its analysis on the virtual Hunger Games that is the Black Friday weekend. This year it was Monday that came out on top for money spent online in the US - with a record breaking year and up 20% compared with 2018. So love it or hate it, Black Friday weekend is here to stay.

61% of online shoppers preferred to make purchases on sites that offered augmented reality technology
And, 63% of shoppers said augmented reality would improve their shopping experience. So what�s the deal?

If we�re not talking about language when it comes to international ecommerce, then it�s AI, and now the new trend? AR, which is expected to become a more significant consideration for all ecommerce providers. Why? Because consumers are willing to spend more - in fact 40% of consumers would pay a higher price for products they were allowed to preview it by augmented reality.

And, when leading online retailers are already offering interactive AR visualizations - the word is, customers are starting to expect this presentation of products. Reading further on the subject, it seems there�ll be a race to adopt such technology if brands have any hope of competing online...

Selling online? The EU's SCA is about to bring on a whole new headache. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a new form of two-factor authentication designed to add an extra layer of security when consumers make online payments. What does that mean for you? Banks will simply reject all transactions that aren�t properly authenticated if you�re not prepared for SCA when it comes into effect. As this very different year finally comes to an end, ecommerce merchants are preparing for the long-awaited 2020 holiday season - which is expected to be like no other!

And don't just take my word for it. According to Deloitte, ecommerce sales will grow as much as 35% this holiday season! However, here at Weglot, we decided to do things a bit differently. Keep on reading to find out all about it and what else we've been up to this month.

SUBJECT OF THE MONTH

Weglot Black Friday 2020
The holiday period is about to commence with the impending Black Friday and Cyber Monday at the end of this month. However, this year at Weglot we decided to offer something different.

We thought long and hard about what we wanted to offer - but considering the challenging year everyone has experienced we decided not to give any discount on Weglot plans.

Instead, we're going to be donating 50% of all sales made on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to global and local organizations helping to make a difference to those impacted by the pandemic.

As a company fortunate to still be running in these difficult times, we felt that contributing to a number of different good causes felt like the right way to make a small difference where we can.

Hey there,

So, the year of Zoom and gloom is finally coming to an end! Although it was challenging for the most part, some good came out of it as well. That's why we're hopeful that 2021 will be a better year.

Highlight of the month

Drumroll... We raised ?20,532 on this Black Friday to donate to various charities!

This year, we wanted to do things differently, so instead of offering discounts, we decided to donate 50% of all sales made on Black Friday.

We're absolutely thrilled to announce that ?20,532 will be donated to various charities and organizations, including Fondation de France and Translators Without Borders.

The Weglot team is super proud of this great initiative and we want to say a big thanks to everyone that supported us, and we hope it will go towards making a difference for those facing such a challenging year.

FEATURE OF THE MONTH

Welcome to your new look Visual Editor!
If you've already been editing your translations on the Visual Editor, you'll have noticed things are a little different. We've added a couple of drop downs at the top to make filtering and highlighting your translations easier.

Firstly, we've made things a little more similar to the translations list, where you can select the language pair you'd like to edit. Then, choose the translation quality, which will highlight the text in different colors, depending on whether it's automated, manual or professional translation - so you can see exactly the quality of your translations.

Check out our blog post for a detailed look at the updates and start using it for yourself! As ever - we want you feedback. Use our product roadmap to let us know if we can improve anything.
