Let's face it - the holidays will look a lot different this year.

Many of us will be staying home rather than traveling to our relative's {larger} homes, possibly hosting small gatherings with those closest to us - literally. No matter what our holidays will look like this season, we shouldn't skip out on the special holiday table settings!

Whether your holiday dining table this year is large or small (or even no dining table at all!), take a look at our top holiday table setting picks.

Let's get your table 2020 holiday-ready with 7 simple steps, for your intimate brunch, friends-giving or a fancy dinner-for-one!

STEP 1: Lay out the tablecovering

First, start with the table covering. We suggest using placemats or a table runner instead of a tablecloth to keep it casual (plus it's easy to clean!). Use 1 placemat per person or 1 table runner. You can even add coasters, if needed. It's all about layering!

STEP 2: Place plates & bowls on top of the placemats or runner.

Next, lay your plates in the center of the placemats or edge of the runner, and set the bowls on top of the plates. Have fun with it - mix the colors or materials of your plates and bowls for visual interest.

STEP 3: Fold and place cloth napkins.

Get creative & fold your napkins, or use a napkin ring. We like to keep it eco-friendly by choosing reusable cloth napkins. Place napkins to the left or center of each plate & bowl.

In a large apartment you can afford to have functional items and decorative pieces - separately.

Make Them Stare at Your Tableware

Start in your kitchen, with your most-used items. Mugs, glasses, bowls - even your coffee maker: go for color and print when choosing. Remember, small spaces can easily be overwhelmed - go wild but remember to balance #maximalism with order.  

Bonus: If you have open shelving, style them playfully by stacking them. 

Beyond Bed + Bath

Let''s move on to...wherever you store your linens. Nothing screams "organized home" like color-coordinated, neatly folded, well-stocked linens. Fold your towels and bed linens and stack nicely. Textiles with a unique design really make a design statement! 

Bonus: Make scent sachets from your loose tea (see #3)
+ tuck them in your linens to keep them smelling fresh.

#1. Sconce

Lighting installed directly to the wall (not ceiling). Sconces often frame doorways or line hallways. Because they are so versatile they can be placed anywhere where you need an extra pop of light!

Advanced Terms

#11. Patina

Some materials such as leather + certain metals (most commonly brass and copper) will patina over time. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon caused by the oils in our hands as we touch these materials. The material will darken over time, giving the piece a more distinguished character. 

#12. K
(aka Kelvin) 

"K" describes the color of light emitting from a light fixture.
> If the number is high (ex. 4200K) then the light will emit a cooler/bluer tone.
> If the number is lower (ex. 2600K) it will emit a warmer/yellower tone.

and vegetable-tanned leathers.
 

The raw, sustainably sourced, white oak hardwoods
are air-dried, hand-sealed, and carefully kiln-dried.

a natural finish developed over years of testing from tree and nut oils.
