It will be another hot and humid day with hazy skies and highs in the upper 80s. Heat indices will make it feel like the low 90s. A cold front will arrive later today, bringing showers and thunderstorms. An isolated thunderstorm or two could be strong to severe. The main threats look to be damaging winds and large hail. Heavy rain will be likely within the storms. Storms will slide from northwest to southeast. Right now, it looks like storms will develop after 4pm in northwest Indiana, making its way into central Indiana around 6pm and stalling out in south central Indiana after 8pm.

A few showers and storms will be around overnight with temperatures falling into the upper 60s.

The cold front will trigger a few showers in south central Indiana Thursday morning into the afternoon. A few isolated severe storms will be possible. Afternoon highs will climb into the low 80s.

Afternoon showers and storms will be possible Friday afternoon, otherwise, a drier trend moves in. Friday will be a bit cooler with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

The weekend looks dry and pleasant with sunshine and highs in the low to mid 80s.

Memorial Day is finally here, and the heat that we tapped into Sunday will be even more pronounced today. Look for heat, more humidity and a chance for spotty thunderstorms this afternoon. Today, our high jumps to 87 degrees - a full 14 degrees warmer than average - and the heat will stay with us the rest of the week, making this the warmest period of 2020 yet.

Look for highs in the 80s during the week with daily chances for thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has us out of any severe risk area today, but we will watch for that possibility later this week. In the meantime, enjoy the warm weather and remember the cooler air moves in here Friday through Sunday with highs in the upper 70s. Even then, temperatures will be well above average for this time of year.

A large area of high pressure dominates the eastern U.S. allowing for warm, moist air to settle into central Indiana. Temperatures will top out in the upper 80s this afternoon -- about 10 degrees above average. It will also be muggy with dew point temperatures near 70 making it feel oppressive at times. Most of day will be dry but clouds increase in the late afternoon and a few pop-up storms will be possible, mainly after 5 p.m.

Storms dwindle in the evening as we lose daytime heating. Staying partly cloudy, warm, and muggy overnight with lows in the upper 60s.

The pattern stays summer-like for tomorrow with stray storms possible in the afternoon but still with lots of dry hours. Daytime highs in the upper 80s with heat indices in the low 90s.

This pattern of unseasonably warm temperatures continues through mid-week with daily rain/storm chances in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s.

Showers and thunderstorms continue to move through central Indiana this morning. Heavy rain with a few strong storms will be possible. Skies will gradually clear to partly sunny today with a few isolated thunderstorms around this afternoon.

An isolated strong or severe storm will be possible in east central and south central Indiana today. The main threat is damaging wind and large hail. Afternoon highs will be a bit lower today, into the low 80s.

Storm chances continue through mid evening. It will be partly cloudy overnight with temperatures falling into the mid 60s.

Friday will start off mostly sunny. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid 80s. A weak cold front will move through during the afternoon. A few scattered showers will develop for some but no severe weather is expected.

The weekend looks pleasant and dry. Saturday will be sunny and warmer with highs in the mid 80s. Sunday will be pleasant and a bit cooler with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

A cold front is set to swing through Central Indiana today bringing a big cooling trend for the weekend as a less humid air mass arrives.

Showers and storms will initiate along the front boundary starting to areas northwest this morning... moving through the Indy metro around lunchtime and into eastern Indiana through the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected but be prepared for brief heavy downpours and lightning.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for a good portion of central Indiana through 6 p.m.

Scattered thunderstorms have developed along a cold front and this line of storms will continue to push east through the afternoon. These storms could be severe with damaging wind gusts as the primary threat. A few rotating storms with an isolated tornado threat can''t be ruled out.

The severe risk will end as the line of storms moves out of the state after 5 p.m. The sky will begin to clear this evening as less humid air arrives. Becoming mostly clear overnight with lows in the upper 50s.

A more tranquil weather pattern will set-up for the next several days starting tomorrow. Mostly sunny skies with highs near 80. We''ll top out in the lower 80s on Friday but staying sunny.

A slight cooling trend for the weekend but still very pleasant with highs in the mid to upper 70s both Saturday and Sunday.

The unofficial start of summer certainly looks and feels the part in Central Indiana with highs in the mid to upper 80s... and uncomfortable dewpoints in the mid/upper 60s.

While we can''t guarantee every backyard and BBQ stays dry the rest of today... the coverage of rain/storms will certainly significantly less than Saturday. With that said, anything that develops in this humid air (with little upper wind to push it around) will drop locally heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Always a good idea to monitor radar and closely if you have outdoor plans.

Any storms that develop should diminish with lack of heating/instability overnight with muggy lows in the upper 60s.

Memorial Day features many rain-free hours on radar and humid highs in the upper 80s. Late-afternoon/evening brings widely scattered downpours and storms with a 30% chance becoming nearly 50% between 5-8 PM.

Odds of rain/storms increase in the middle/latter half of this week as an upper disturbance interacts with a stalled front. Coverage of rain peaks Wednesday afternoon into Friday morning before the arrival of refreshing air next weekend.

Between now and then... A/Cs get a workout within the miserably humid air.

The heat is back today as our wind direction shifts out of the southwest. Even with the warmer air, it remains relatively dry so a high humidity isn''t a big concern yet today. Mainly sunny skies and a strong southwest breeze gusting to 25 mph at times.

The humidity is back tomorrow. Temperatures top out in the upper 80s with heat indices in the low to mid 90s under a partly cloudy sky in the afternoon. Storm chances ramp up as a boundary approaches Central Indiana in the afternoon.

Storms will be likely after 3 p.m. from north to south. A few storms could be severe through Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats.

Another day of humid heat and another day of spotty splash-and-dashers in Central Indiana.

Muggy highs in the upper 80s to near 90? today. Latest radar analysis shows a quicker movement to cells than the past two days. It also shows the greater coverage thus far has been on the western half of the state.

It''s fair game to have downpours or lightning impact your BBQ, pool plans, or outing on the lake between now and sunset. Please monitor radar if you''re outside and also head indoors when/if you hear thunder.

We''re going to do this all over again on Wednesday... though coverage of rain/thunderstorms increases a bit and we''re forecasting a 50% chance versus 30% chance the past two days.

The approach of a cool front later in the week ups the odds that your yard gets wet...with likely odds of 70% or greater both Thursday and Friday.

Expect rather humid conditions to linger into Friday afternoon before the passage of that front Friday evening ushers-in refreshing air for the weekend.

This is good news if you''re not a fan of muggy air, but not an ideal set-up for swimming... as the much drier (and breeze) will make it chilly getting in and out of the pool.

But it''s looking like a pleasant, mainly sunny, weekend otherwise with highs closer to 70? than 80? and lows in the 50s Saturday morning then dropping into the upper 40s Sunday morning.

Tranquil weather is back this weekend as a dome of high pressure takes control of the eastern US. Less humid air returns along with this pattern. It will still be hot today though with highs in the upper 80s under a mostly sunny sky.

Mostly clear and cooler overnight with lows in the upper 50s.

Winds will shift from the east tomorrow and temperatures will be slightly cooler. Look for highs near 84 but still with plenty of sunshine and low humidity.

Dry weather continues into the start of next week with plenty of sunshine again Monday and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Our next weather system arrives late Tuesday. It''s the remnants of what is currently Tropical Storm Cristobal in the Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures jump to the low 90s as the heat and humidity return in advance of the showers and thunderstorms.

Wet weather continues through the first part of the day on Wednesday.

It''s another day of heat and humidity today. Though not quite as warm as the past two days, a warm flow of tropical air will make it feel muggy, and we''ll see occasional showers and thunderstorms but at this time, it doesn''t look like we will have storms that reach severe criteria.

The transition day is tomorrow. A cold front will move into and through Indiana, kicking off some thunderstorms but also bringing in much cooler air.

Look for a cooler but very pleasant weekend with highs in the low 70s. In fact, on both Saturday and Sunday, we''ll be in the 60''s most of the day. If yard work is on your agenda, you won''t have any issues because we aren''t expecting any rain.

Look for a return to the mid 80s by the middle of next week.

Welcome to a beautiful weekend of weather! Humidity is down and the sunshine is back. Daytime highs will be in the low 70s this afternoon with increasing clouds.

Staying dry and mild overnight with clear skies and lows in the upper 40s.

Sunday brings another sunny day with low humidity and unseasonably cool temperatures with highs near 70.

This more tranquil weather pattern continues through the first part of next week. Highs remain in the low 70s on Monday then bounce back into the mid 80s on Tuesday.

Heat and humidity return on Wednesday as well as shower and storms chances late in the day.

The best rain chance next week will be late Wednesday into Thursday. Daytime highs jump back above average in the mid to upper 80s.

After a soggy start we have had plenty of rain-free time this afternoon, but the sunshine helps destabilize the air and aid in scattered storm redevelopment.

Monitor radar for locally heavy rain and lightning possibly impacting some areas this evening. We remain in tropical air so anything on radar can drop quick rainfall amounts over a .25" to locally 1".

We''ve got about another 24 hours of dewpoints in the mid/upper 60s...which makes it uncomfortable.

This keeps locally heavy rain in play overnight into the first half of Friday. In fact, rain is likely Friday morning with widespread rain ending northwest-to-southeast from noon to 4 PM.

A refreshing northwest wind delivers less humid and clearing to finish the day with only a spotty rain chance in the late afternoon with highs in the mid/upper 70s.

Noticeably cooler air emerges Friday night into Saturday morning as lows near 50?.

Saturday may begin with sunshine, but the colder air aloft and late-May sun angle leads to the blossoming of low clouds in the afternoon...for a partly to mostly cloudy sky. High temperatures struggle to return to 70? Saturday afternoon so not the best of pool days with the cool, dry breeze blowing too.

40s are a real possibility Sunday morning under a clear sky and light wind. We''re expecting sunshine from start to finish Sunday with highs near 70?.

Comfortably cool for the open of June next Monday with lows in the 40s and highs near 70?.

Severe clear conditions on this Sunday round-out a rather pleasant weekend and finish to the month of May.

Temperatures drop quickly after sunset and bottom-out in the 45-50? range Monday morning.

The month of June begins on a seasonably cool, but pleasant, note with highs in the mid-70s and partly cloudy.

This will be the last cool day of the week with a quick warm-up into the upper 80s on Tuesday as the wind shifts to the southewest with abundant sunshine.

Highs near 90? before late-day heavy storms develop. This marks the beginning of a daily storm chance into next weekend.

It appears temperatures this week stay in the mid/upper 80s after Monday.

The same upper level system will still impact central Indiana today. It will be mostly cloudy today with a spotty shower possible. It will be warmer today with highs in the low to mid 70s.

Our July weather continues here in Indiana today and just like yesterday, there could be afternoon showers and thunderstorms for some. Due to a warm and tropical flow of air, Indiana and the central part of the country get a summer feel again today. Look for a high of 84 with temperatures more than 10 degrees above average. Things stay pretty much the same much of tomorrow and into part of Friday.

As promised, the cooler change comes for the weekend with sapphire blue skies, a north wind and seasonable highs in the low 70s. At this point, that weather pattern sticks around into much of next week with only slight chances for rain.

Tropical Storm Cristobal crashed onto the Gulf Coast yesterday and this morning is providing high winds and heavy rain to parts of Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama.

We will keep it dry and warm today, but the remnants of Cristobal race into Indiana tomorrow. Severe weather risks are marginal but we could see some locally heavy downpours tomorrow.

Again, today is a carbon copy of yesterday with a high of 87. Tomorrow, the storms don''t stop another 87 degree day. Look for a mainly dry week overall with most highs around 80 from Wednesday through Friday and a fantastic dry weekend in the 70s.

This is the week to get your outdoor yard work done, and we will see a lot of sunshine most days.

Another bright day in Central Indiana with warm highs in the 80s, but with a noticeably more comfortable Muggy Meter due to dewpoints that are in the lower 50s.

This is courtesy of an east-southeast wind drying-out the lower levels of atmosphere and which leads to another pleasant night of lows near 60? Monday morning.

Monday will be a near carbon-copy of weather with abundant sunshine, high in the 80s, and the Muggy Meter remaining below the line of discomfort (60? dewpoint).

Mid to high level clouds are noticeable in the afternoon increasing with the approach of what''s left of Cristobal from the south-southwest.

The return of tropical air Monday night bumps the Muggy Meter into the uncomfortable range on Tuesday... and helps fuel some downpours and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon/evening.

It''s not uncommon to have rotating showers/storms and/or tornadoes on the eastern side of remnant tropical circulations. That''s where Central Indiana will be on Tuesday and why a good chunk of the state is in a Level 1 (out 5) severe weather risk.

This risk could get elevated in the next 48 hours after a better idea of exactly where the circulation center will be and what point of peak-heating... to maximize instability/wind shear.

We''ll update in the coming days and please follow the forecast closely.

Windy conditions expected on Wednesday on the backside of what''s expected to be a hybrid low pressure system of Cristobal leftovers and an upper low merging.

Pleasant conditions for the remainder of the week in the forecast and a drop in temperatures next weekend with more of a northwest flow returning. For now we''re forecasting highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s next weekend.

Weather today playing-out as expected with downpours more numerous as better lift enters the state.

While severe weather isn''t expected, there may be just enough low-level instability/spin to create a few funnel clouds. Otherwise tropical downpours, and some lightning, will be main issues with cells on radar.

An upper low to our southwest, in addition to remnant moisture from Tropical Storm Bertha, provide ample tropical moisture for areas of heavy rain over the next 48 hours... with some places exceeding 2" totals.

It should be noted, that those rain amounts can occur in a quick time period as some locations exceeded one inch just from the morning rain system.

The Muggy Meter remains uncomfortable and helps fuel locally heavy rain into early afternoon Friday. However, the well-advertised cold front brings an end to rain from northwest-to-southeast by 6 PM Friday as drier air gradually arrives.

Much more comfortable humidity this weekend but much cooler too... which could play role of spoiler if you''re planning to hit the lake or be poolside. The combination of dry air and a breeze...will make it feel chilly getting out of the water.

But it will be refreshing for other outdoor activities and an opportunity to shut-off the A/C for multiple days.

Highs will be near 70? this weekend and lows in the 45-50? range.

Comfortable continues to for the opening days of June before temperatures return to near/above normal temperatures by the middle of next week.

A high pressure dome remains in control of our weather for today keeping the tranquil pattern going. This means plenty of sunshine for today and slightly below average highs in the low 70s.

Summertime temperatures are back for Memorial Day weekend. A warm front is currently lifting through central Indiana bringing a warm, humid air mass. Temperatures will climb to near 83 today.

With the more humid air though comes the risk of pop-up storms. This will be possible through the peak heating hours of the day - mainly from noon through the early evening.

Spotty storms diminish into the evening with partly cloudy skies overnight. Lows drop into the mid 60s.

Even warmer air builds in for Sunday. Temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 80s through central Indiana. We stay partly cloudy and humid with a stray pop-up storm mainly north.

The pattern stays summer-like for Memorial Day with stray storms possible, but still with lots of dry hours. Daytime highs hit the upper 80s -- about 10 degrees above average for this time of year.

Daytime highs stay in the 80s through the first part of the week with daily scattered storm chances. We see a break in this pattern by Friday as rain chances dwindle and temperatures return closer to normal. - Lindsey Monroe

Look for a carbon copy of yesterday''s weather this afternoon. Our Memorial Day was the warmest day of the year for many Indiana towns, and we will reach 87 today. The high was 88 in Indianapolis yesterday. Look for heat, humidity and scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon today, especially after 2 p.m. By the way, our high today will be 14 degrees above average.

This warm, humid and wet pattern is going to stick around for a few days, especially tomorrow and Thursday. A major shift in the weather takes place over the weekend with a cooler, dry air mass dropping down over the Midwest. Look for highs to drop to the low 70s Saturday and Sunday and at this point, our computer guidance shows a mainly dry pattern. Humidity will be lower too. That dry air sticks with us into the beginning of next week.

Temperatures will continue to climb into the upper 80s this afternoon under a mainly sunny sky. The humidity factor stays low though with dew points only in the 50s.

Clouds build in overnight as our next weather system pushes in. Overnight lows in the upper 60s with winds becoming more breezy out of the southeast at 10-20 mph.

The remnants of what was Tropical Storm Cristobal arrive Tuesday in the late morning/early afternoon. Temperatures jump to the upper 80s as the heat and humidity return in advance of the showers and thunderstorms. It will also get very windy with 40 mph gusts possible at times.

Thunderstorms will be likely through the afternoon and some could rotate -- this is common with tropical systems. With this risk at hand, the Storm Prediction Center has Central Indiana under a level 2 of 5 so be prepared for the potenial of a few warnings as these storms come through.

The severe threat ends Tuesday evening as a second system approaches. This will be a cold front and will bring a few stray showers overnight into Wednesday morning. Another round of showers is possible Wednesday afternoon. Not as hot or humid with highs in the upper 70s.

Walk out the door and you''ll feel a quick slap of humidity. Yesterday was the most humid day for most of us since last September, and the dew points will be high again today, mainly above 70 degrees. Look for another unseasonably warm day in Indiana with a stray shower and a high in the mid 80s.

Things change, a lot, heading into the weekend. Day by day, high temperatures drop, and the weekend should be spectacular with lower humidity, mainly dry conditions and highs only in the 70s.

That wonderful trend continues into next week with highs in the upper 70s/low 80s.

It will also get very windy with 40-50 mph gusts possible at times through the afternoon and evening. A Wind Advisory will be in effect for the western side of the state from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. Wind gusts like this could blow around any unsecured lawn furniture, break down tree limbs and potentially cause power outages.

Keep an eye on your WTHR Weather App today. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, has much of Indiana under a slight risk of severe weather today. Even though there is rain in southern Indiana now, most storms will fire up around the lunch hour, this afternoon and early evening. Expect the chance for gusty winds, isolated rotating storms and heavy downpours of rain. We''ll top out around 87 and then, things change again.

After the tropical depression remnants leave the state, we could see a few pop-up storms tomorrow but overall, a dry, mild period is going to take over for several days.

Most days, beginning Thursday, will have highs around 80, but we won''t get out of the 70s this weekend.

Tranquil weather is back this weekend as a dome of high pressure takes control of the eastern US. Less humid air returns along with this pattern. It will still be hot today though with highs in the upper 80s under a mostly sunny sky.

Mostly clear and cooler overnight with lows in the upper 50s.

Winds will shift from the east tomorrow and temperatures will be slightly cooler. Look for highs near 84 but still with plenty of sunshine and low humidity.

The same upper level system will still impact central Indiana today. It will be mostly cloudy today with a spotty shower possible. It will be warmer today with highs in the low to mid 70s.

The clouds will hang tough again tonight but the upper low will meander off to the north. Temperatures will only fall into the upper 50s and low 60s.

A warm front will lift through Saturday. Sunshine will also reappear with a mix of sun and clouds overhead. Temperatures will soar into the low 80s with a breeze out of the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop along the warm front. Instability will be high so a few strong to severe storms will be possible. Large hail will be the main threat.

Sunday will be much of the same. Isolated showers and storms will be around during the afternoon and a few could be strong. Highs will be back into the low 80s.

Scattered thunderstorms will be around at times on Monday. It will be warm and humid with highs in the mid 80s.

Daily storm chances continue through the work week.
